Cupcake Stamp from American Crafts Warehouse Sale!
I’ve been keeping a secret from you all.
I feel rather guilty.
Earlier this month I attended a preview of the American Crafts Warehouse event in Orem, Utah. Ahhh man was it amazing.
I have to admit, though… I am not, in any way, shape or form a scrapbooker. (gasp!)
So I was thinking, cool. I’ll go. They may have some paper products out there for me…and I just love sales! So um…an hour later I walked out with way more than I thought.
I was so happy to be invited to this event because I got to know American Crafts a bit better and I must apologize because I really had no clue who they really were….and let me just say…they are way more than a scrapbook company. There is something for everyone, even cupcake lovers!
Like this adorable cupcake stamp!
The sale runs through December 24…and then opens again until New Year’s Eve!

Check out this post on my other blog, Project Domestication to see what else I purchased! (Hint…i bought some cute stickers and wrapping paper!)

Holiday Cupcake by Cravings
I always used to say I’m not a mint and chocolate kind of gal… but lately I’ve enjoyed this classic combination.
I’d love to try this Mint Chocolate Cupcake with Andy’s mints and a hint of mint on the chocolate frosting by Cravings–Alisha’s Cupcakes in Pleasant Grove. She says, “It just taste like Christmas!”
Yum!

Mirror, mirror on the wall…
Mirror, mirror on the wall. Who’s the fairest cupcake of them all!
I stopped by The Chocolate Dessert Cafe again today to pick up some mini cupcakes today for a Christmas party (The Chocolate calls them ‘babycakes’).
Of course, I couldn’t pass up the opportunity to sample The Chocolate’s newest seasonal flavor: chocolate peppermint!
It was a delicious holiday flavor. It was a great balance of the chocolate and peppermint, paired perfectly. The peppermint was apparent, but not cheap nor strong. It cooled my mouth, yet made my tastebuds beg for more chocolate. I loved it. I dare say I’d take this cupcake over my faved Williams-Sonoma Peppermint Bark.
I’m telling ya, friend. I hope you’ll have the chance to stop by Utah’s newest cupcake bakery and dessert cafe. You’ll be seeing lots more of my experiences at The Chocolate…so beware because it’s dangerously close to me!

Happy National Cupcake Day & Happy 1 Year Anniversary!
Happy National Cupcake Day!
I hope you all celebrate in some way, shape or form! I for one will be starting my “cupcake goal” list for 2010, buying cupcakes for a gathering and um…continue working on a special cupcake recipe I’ve been designing for the last year.
As I think this blog I have to show you the first Utah cupcake I enjoyed!

I can’t remember for sure, but I believe it was a mini red velvet. But I do know that it is from So Cupcake and it was my birthday cupcake back in 2008.
I’d also like to wish myself a wonderful 1 year anniversary for this blog. My official anniversary date is December 1. And I failed to celebrate it. See my very first post here.
It’s been a wonderful year for me. I’ve met so many friends, ate too many cupcakes, yet not near enough and really developed a greater love for small business, baking, photography, writing and um…cupcakes!
Happy National Cupcake Day!
…Happy 1 Year Anniversary, Utah Loves Cupcakes.
I hope to bring another wonderful year of cupcake goodness to all of you with better posts, potential cupcake meet-ups and just delicious fun!

Vanilla Buttercream Frosting using local Utah Ingredients!
I love using local ingredients. I try hard to use them whenever possible. …and I find it very fun and satisfying! I just wrote a post on my other blog, Project Domestication about my go-to vanilla cupcake and vanilla frosting recipes. I’ve tweaked the frosting recipe a bit, by simply swapping heavy cream for whole milk and making sure to use a local vanilla! Hello Blue Cattle Truck Vanilla!
Anyway…hope you’ll try this recipe. Hope you’ll try out my favorite local ingredients!
Magnolia Bakery’s Vanilla Buttercream:
The vanilla buttercream we use at the bakery is technically not a buttercream but actually an old-fashioned confectioners’ sugar and butter frosting. Be sure to beat the icing for the amount of time called for in the recipe to achieve the desired creamy texture.
1 cup (2 sticks) unsalted butter, softened (I always try to use Land-o-Lakes, Challenge, Meadow Gold or Winder Farms butter)
8 cups confectioners’ sugar (I use C&H and I don’t feel the need to sift with this recipe)
1/2 cup milk (I now use heavy cream, Meadow Gold)
2 teaspoons vanilla extract (I use Blue Cattle Truck Vanilla brand and use 1 1/2 TB)
Place the butter in a large mixing bowl. Add 4 cups of the sugar and then the milk and vanilla. On the medium speed of an electric mixer, beat until smooth and creamy, about 3 to 5 minutes. Gradually add the remaining sugar, 1 cup at a time, beating well after each addition (about 2 minutes), until the icing is thick enough to be of good spreading consistency. You may not need to add all of the sugar. If desired, add a few drops of food coloring and mix thoroughly. (Use and store the icing at room temperature because icing will set if chilled.) Icing can be stored in an airtight container for up to 3 days.
The Chocolate Dessert Cafe now open in Orem!
