Cupcake Class at The Viking Cooking School
The Viking Cupcake School is…oops. Let’s start over: The Viking Cooking School is hosting a Cupcake and Cake Balls Workshop Class on Saturday, July 18, 10:00 am to 3:00 pm. (Gosh, I wish Utah had an actually Cupcake School!)
Here’s the description from their site:
Two of the hottest trends in pastry today are cupcakes that taste as good as they look and itty bitty cake balls. If you’re unfamiliar with cake balls, just imagine your choice of cake rolled into a bite-size ball and then coated with chocolate – much like a truffle. One bite of pure heaven! In our new 5-hour workshop, learn how to make, bake and decorate cupcakes with buttercream, cream cheese and fondant. Then learn to make cake balls in all your favorite flavors. Perfect for gifting – or for serving at your next cocktail party!
SKILLS AND TECHNIQUES Making and baking tender cupcakes; testing baked goods for doneness; preparing buttercream and cream cheese icing; rolled fondant; using a pastry bag; piping icing; making cake balls and coating in chocolate; making cake ball lollipops.

Sumo Cupcakes
those saggy moobies seem all to real! nice work!
made by our st. george cupcake lover ellecupcake.
Here’s a little excerpt of her thoughts from her blog:
We used regular sized cupcakes pans and a recipe from Vegan Cupcakes Take Over the World. Although.. we hardly followed the directions and put different flavoring (Mexican Vanilla and Coconut) They tasted pretty good!
For the faces we used Vanilla Waffers and frosted the whole cupcake and waffer and just drew faces and bodies on them
I think they turned out pretty cute and I heard the Birthday boy and his friends really liked them too!
Ghost Busters Cupcakes
I love everything about these cupcakes from our flickr group member SweetElegance.
Here’s how she described them on her blog:
This cake was a blast to make! Totally short notice but I love the way it turned out. It is chocolate fondant colored black. The ghost sign is fondant and the slime is thinned down royal icing. The little ghost on the top cupcake was done with gumpaste. The cupcakes have a mound of buttercream and then were covered with fondant. The little red signs are made with fondant. TFL!
